Polar Skate Co. is a skateboarding company based in Malmö, Sweden. Founded in 2011 by Pontus Alv, a professional skateboarder and artist, Polar is known for its unique perspective and artistic direction that have set it apart from other skateboard companies.

PONTUS ALV

Born in 1977, Pontus Alv began skateboarding in the late 1980s and by the early 2000s, Alv gained recognition for his innovative skateboarding style and creative approach to filmmaking. He produced several skateboarding videos that stood out for their artistic and experimental qualities, including "The Strongest of the Strange" and "In Search of the Miraculous."

In 2011, Alv founded Polar Skate Co, which quickly gained a reputation for its unique graphics and designs, as well as its team of talented skateboarders. The brand has a strong focus on creativity, individuality, and non-conformity, and is known for pushing the boundaries of skateboarding culture.

Alv has also continued to pursue his artistic career alongside his skateboarding and entrepreneurship ventures. His work spans a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, and video, and has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.

Alv is considered to be one of the most influential figures in modern skateboarding, and has had a significant impact on the evolution of skateboarding culture.

Along with Pontus Alv, the Polar team includes some of the best skaters in the world, such as Nick Boserio, Oskar Rozenberg, Hjalte Halberg, Aaron Herrington, Dane Brady, Paul Grund and Shin Sanbongi.

The Polar team has also been involved in a number of art and film projects, including the full-length skate film "I Like It Here Inside My Mind, Don't Wake Me This Time," which was released in 2016 and "Sounds Like You Guys are Crushing It" which was released in 2022.

A number of artists, designers and photographers have helped shape the Polar aesthetic, including Jacob Ovgren, Emilio Santoyo, Mike Hill and Tynan Kerr. Each artist adds their own unique aesthetic that combine with Pontus Alv's own creative vision.

Polar has established itself in skateboard culture, collaborating with brands including Nike SB, Carhartt WIP, Levis and Converse.

The Polar Skate Co range now includes skateboard decks, alongside seasonal collections of apparel including printed and cut & sew t-shirts, fleece, jackets and denim pants.
